September’s memory draws upon us whenever
We stop and look for treasure,
God’s love given without measure,
Revealing the recent story of summer:
Sails set against a sapphire blue sky;
Waves cresting and rolling, surging, foaming high;
Picnics in the open countryside;
Running through grassy meadows far and wide;
Warm sunshine a-glow through the trees;
A carpet of wild flowers blooming around our knees;
The heather clad moor alongside a golden sandy shore;
Whilst time in a fine garden offered the joy we long for;
Or marvellous moments beside a calm lake,
Offering ample opportunity photos to take;
The wide world a sunlit dance there to explore,
Who could ever wish for more?
For the really unforgettable thing
Is the true happiness the Lord does bring.
He opens the windows of heaven as promised
To shower blessings upon us, given in Jesus.
Happiness is a matter of faith we find,
Coming to Him in friendship with love combined.
Never, ever absent, nor far away,
The Lord Jesus is near us to bless the day.
The word ‘Holiday’ a derivative of ‘Holy day’
Gives an insight as to why we pray.
Happiness and holiness go hand in hand,
Both being at our Father’s loving command.
Did you spend time away with more time for prayer,
Each moment offered for Jesus to then share?
When this you do, God’s love will shine through.
Let then September’s memory be happy too,
For hopefully your friendship with Jesus,
Time spent in greater awareness, will lead you to worship.
Love always has a good and godly purpose.
You only have to spend time with Jesus to find this.
Dearest Father, for all that You do for us and lovingly gift us, including all that forms a happy memory for us, being momentous and marvellous, I thank You.
But, even more important than this, is the hope, the peace and the joy we discover in Your Son’s friendship readily given us. For this I praise You. Amen.
